Since human beings have been able to travel they have sold excess goods or produce to neighbouring villages, towns, cities and even countries!
Do you know where the first ships sailed to? And what they were carrying?
This project is going to help you think about international trade, whether that’s importing or exporting goods and services to another country.
Each section will carry useful links and information about global trade and will enable you to build your project to take your chosen product to a new market that you’ve chosen.
Remember a few simple rules of trade.
- Find something that people need. It is always easier to sell something that they don’t have yet rather than trying to get them to buy your offering in place of something they can already buy. Find compelling reasons for people to buy your product. These are often called Features and Benefits – try and find out what these might be.
- Think about the language you are going to use about your business and to your customers. They are 4 x times more likely to buy if they can read in their own language.
- Walk a mile in someone else’s Moccasins. If you don’t know what a Moccasin is, find out and put 2 and 2 together!
