What is a reasonable area of exclusivity to allocate to first time retailers or dealers in USA and Canada?

Typically, we have noticed that many retailers, dealers, agents and distributors alike work regionally across the US, with typical regions such as the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, West and Midwest. A national exclusivity is quite rare, given the size and the difference you’ll face in the market.
In Canada, you can allocate a similar exclusivity per province, which you can then extend to the entire country, depending on your sector.
