Visit USA Trade Show
Question
I would like to visit the Outdoor Retailer show, Salt Lake City in August 2014 to find a US distributor for my products and with a view to possibly exhibiting there next year. Where do I find out about possible financial assistance to make this trip, please?
Answer
Hi Robert,
The UK Trade and Investment website has some great links on there to advise on funding when attending/exhibiting at events overseas.
Here’s the link that may help you:
https://www.events.ukti.gov.uk/ or https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/uk-trade-and-investment-services-for-exporters

I hope this helps.
Answer
Dear Robert
Currently there is no financial support for visiting overseas markets/exhibitions.
There is financial support for exhibiting overseas under UKTI’s Tradeshow Access Programme, full details of which can be found on our website: https://www.gov.uk/tradeshow-access-programme
There is a list of the supported exhibitions up until 31 March 2015.
The exhibition you have mentioned, in Salt Lake City is not on the current list, but may be for 2015/16.
If you require any further assistance with this, please contact me – details below

Answer
Hi Robert,
In lieu of financial support being available you might want to consider other ways to minimise your costs. There are rules around the type of visit you are making and the goods you can take but applying for an ATA Carnet document from your local issuing Chamber of Commerce can negate the need to pay customs import/export taxes and duties for a temporary visit.
It’s a service that will soon be available online via www.e-zcert.com to replace the current paper based application process.
Drop me a line if you need any help in this area.
Thanks,
Ian James.
