Online shop sending outside EU. What country do I pay income tax in?
Question
Hi
I have an online shop selling spare parts. Currently sell mainly to the UK but get a few orders to the EU.
Here are some questions…
If I was sell to individuals in Russia for example. Lets say £30,000 of items.
What country do I pay income tax in? UK or Russia?
Would I need to register the Russian equivalent of VAT?
Regards
William
Answer
Sir,
Thank you for your query regarding sales of goods to Russia.
As regards income tax you should write to:
Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1AS
United Kingdom
or call HMRC on 0300 200 3300
To find out more about your responsibilities in respect of taxation in Russia you need to ask the Russian authorities. The Russian embassy in London might be the best place to start.
