Question

Is there a simple export controls check-list for exporters who supply the food industry with machinery and parts for those machines?

(This question was asked at one of our recent webinars on Export Controls. You can listen to this webinar on our recent webinars page at https://opentoexport.com/info/webinars/)

Answer

The best checklist to use is the information in this guide https://www.gov.uk/guidance/beginners-guide-to-export-controls

Controls are put in place on the basis of what is being exported ie is it on a control list? Where the goods are going ie are there any proliferation programmes in place? Who is the end user and what is the intended end use?

The types of controlled items in the Control List include eg grinding machines; centrifuges; freeze drying equipment etc. You should use the goods checker tool to determine if your items are on a list and always be aware of intended end use.
