Indian export licence

Question

Hi

Do I need a export licence for exporting scrap metal from UK to India?

I have been searching about export licence for last one month but could not find any specific information.

Would someone be able to help me out please.
Regards

Answer

Hi Dheeraj

You do not need an export licence but your Importer must be licenced to import Scrap Metal into India. There are very few shipping lines that will carry scrap these days due to abandonment fear at destination.
We are one of the few freight forwarders currently shipping scrap metal and plastics for customers over here. You will also need to speak to the environmental agency as well to get your goods classified and you will need an Annexe VII placed in the doors of each container you load. Plus carriers ask for a letter of indemnity to be signed.
ALL FREIGHT COSTS QUOTED MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE VESSEL DEPARTS
No bills of lading are released to you until ALL costs incurred are paid in full. Freetime in Mundra / Nhava Sheva is currently 14 days as well.
For further information you can contact me on the below details.
