Import form EU and export to Non EU (temporary import)

Question

Hi,
I want to start and international trading business. I got some very good buyers in UAE. They ask for few industrial items (Electrical Switches) from UK and Europe.

When I quoted my prices they are quite happy with the price I offer. They are ready to order.I am buying these items from EU.

My question is this do I need to temporary import these items to UK and Export or I need to properly import these items (pay duties+ I am already doing business and my company is VAT reregistered) to the UK and the export to UAE . In both scenario what do I need to do ?

Your detail reply will help me to understand.

Answer

Sounds exciting! We love working with start-up businesses, mainly because of the growth potential.

If products are coming from the EU to be consolidated with UK stock there is no need to arrange import clearance (at the moment at least, let’s wait and see what happens with Brexit). Goods can move between EU member states in free circulation.

In order to export from the UK you will need an EORI number, this only takes a few days and we can help you with this.

You can consolidate the orders at your own premises or at a 3rd party warehouse, then you will need to make sure that they are suitably packed together for export.

You will need to prepare a commercial invoice and packing list (we can help you with this too) and you should check with the buyer whether there are any special documentary requirements in UAE, you may need legalised invoices and/or Certificates of Origin (we can help you with these too!)

Once all that is sorted you can arrange freight by sea or air to the port/airport of your customer’s choice.

We’d be happy to put the whole supply chain together, which will keep things nice and simple for you.
