Exporting Used Operating Table to USA

Question

Good Morning

We are a large agent in the re-sale of medical equipment, however to date we have dealt with mainly smaller items and also predominantly within the UK.

We now have the opportunity to ship an operating table to the USA and I am looking to ascertain what guidelines surround this with regards to documentation?

Furthermore, I am interested to know if there are certain requirements for the packing of such equipment for export.

Thank you in advance of your assistance,

Answer

Hi Francesca

Presuming that this is a commercial transaction, ordinarily it would be the responsibility of the importer to arrange any specifics for their arrival into the USA. They would probably have their own broker familiar with them, and would also have registered with the FDA in the US. From the UK you would need to arrange various things – export customs clearance, AMS, ISF. Please feel free to call me on 0208 358 6500 and I’d be happy to assist.

Thanks
Ed
