Documentation when exporting to Saudi Arabia

Question

Hello

I’m exporting Aluminium profile stair nosings to KSA, Riyadh. As far as I can tell the HS code is HS 760410.

Do I need a SASO Certificate?
I know I need a certificate of origin

Anything else or advice people can give me?

Thanks
Steve

Answer

Good Morning Steve,
In answer to your question as a freight forwarder we are sending this type of equipment weekly down to Riyadh. Every consignment of imported goods must be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity from an authorised inspection agency (Or SASO Cert). Intertek and Cotechna are authorised to issue the Certificates of Conformity (CoC). They are needed to ensure customs clearance of shipments and confirm that the products comply with the relevant Saudi technical regulations and national, regional or international standards.

All imported consignments must bear a non-removable indication of origin. Those that do not will be held by Saudi Customs and the Importer will be asked to take corrective action or provide an undertaking that the offence will not be repeated. Failure to do so could result in a fine or goods being returned to their country of origin. For full details, read the complete Circular by Saudi Customs on Country of Origin Marking. You will also need to raise a Commercial Invoice and Packing List. If I can be of further assistance please contact me on the below number or email.

Answer

Hi Ian

Thank you for your reply.

I did ask the client that I’m sending the goods to, and he said I just need to put the certificate of origin inside the packing crate?

We are only shipping aluminium stair nosing profiles and not any electrical equipment etc.

Do we still need SASO certificate?

I think the HS code is 760410?

We are sending via FedEx, 24 no aluminium sample stair noisngs, total weight 45kg

Regards

Steve

Answer

Hi
I just checked with my Riyadh office and they say that yes you still need one no matter of weight and volumes. The HS Code is correct is 7604 1000. I have never heard of the C of O being placed in the crate, normally your freight agents or the Courier company would send these separate from the goods.
