Do you have to already be involved in Export Controls to join the Profession?

Question

Do you have to already be involved in Export Controls to join the Profession?

Answer

The main requirement for joining the Export Control Profession is 3 years experience. Other proofs of competence – including qualifications and training – will also be considered.

If you do not think you’ll have the required experience or qualifications to be admitted into the profession, you can apply for affiliate membership with the Institute of Export & International Trade. This membership will allow you to access discounts on training in control-related skills and access many of the resources available through the Profession.

You can also use the Institute’s Export Jobs Board to find roles in Export Controls through which you can gain experience. We also suggest that if you are interested in taking on such a role in your current organisation, you should ask them to do more work relating to Export Controls.
