Who are Gardener and Green?

Gardener and Green be supply locally sourced artisan cheeses to China. We are working together with Somerset Deli (a cheese deli) that deals with over 300 different varieties of product

What is the business and where are you now with your export plans?

We’re going to sell unprocessed cheese into China though we haven’t started exporting yes. Somerset Deli have sold a product range of unprocessed cheese in the UK for many years and I’ve (Gardener and Green) have been in China for many years, importing from China and exporting into Europe with a previous company. For the last few years I’ve been trying to find a product to export into China. My partner is from China, which is very useful for understanding the culture, psyche, regulations and so on.

How has the Action Plan helped your business?

Completing it was brilliant. It focussed attention on many areas and made you think about lots of things. By the time I’d got to the end of it, I was dealing with things way out of my comfort zone I hadn’t thought of before. You can’t skip a page so you have to think about all of it. By the time I finished I wasn’t thinking about the competition but about the action plan itself.
