On February 3rd at 2pm, Open to Export’s webinar programme will be returning with a focus on ‘How to protect yourself from the legal pitfalls of exporting’.
It promises to be a very useful and informative webinar, covering some of the major issues which first-time exporters are likely to encounter and giving practical advice to help exporters take measures to protect themselves against potential difficulties.
Leading the webinar will be Liz Ward from Virtuoso Legal. Liz has over 20 years of experience in the law (particularly in IP) and has worked for large national and international law firms. She has been ranked in Chambers and Partners for several years and can legitimately be called a “leader in the field.”
Virtuoso Legal are specialist IP advisors, with an awarding reputation as one of the UK’s leading IP practices. They cover many of the most important legal aspects of international trade including copyright, trademarks, patents, licensing, franchising, designs, design rights, trade secrets, rights of confidence, confidentiality agreements, international agreements, commercial contracts, passing off, infringement, software agreements, IT outsourcing, website terms and conditions as well as a range of associated technology contracts.
Liz will be joined by Brian Dickson, MD of Sport Direct (not Sports Direct), who will share some of his experiences tackling some of these challenges. Sport Direct have obviously faced some legal challenges in regard to their naming rights – which you can read more about here. Brian has also been a member of Open to Export since August 2014.
Further announcements may be forthcoming regarding additional speakers on the panel, and we will keep you posted. The presentation will be followed by the usual live Q&A where you can ask any question and we will do our best to either answer it live or over email following the event.
