The Incredible Bakery Company

Exporter case study: The Incredible Bakery Company

On 7 June 2018 we ran our 8th Export Action Plan competition with BubbleBum (UK) Limited taking home the £3000 cash prize.

In the latest of our finalist case studies, we speak to the Incredible Bakery Company about their export plans and their tips for future entrants to the competition.

What does your company do at the moment and what’s next?

The Incredible Bakery Company is an award-winning Gluten Free & Vegan Bakery, including Britain’s Best Gluten Free Loaf. At the moment our most of our trade comes from selling to other businesses, such as health food stores, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and hotels. Individual consumers can buy directly from us through our website or shop. Using the Export Action Plan we found out Ireland is the best market for us to expand next. We have already penetrate Northern Ireland and have the logistics in place to ship to Ireland.

How are the exports going?

The exports are still on the drawing board. In September, we have plans to attend the Food, Retail & Hospitality Expo in Dublin to explore the Irish market opportunity.

How has the Export Action Plan helped with your exports?

It was invaluable tool to get us going, or very nearly. Exporting is a massive leap that should be taken with all due care. The Export Action Plan was an eye opener to us. We have learnt a lot in the process of putting it together.

How have you found the experience of the final today?

It was a real honour to be shortlisted with 9 amazing other companies. But it was also very enlightening learning about how other business started with the export journeys and where and how they are planning to go next.

What three tips would you give to other new exporters?

Start with an Export to Action Plan. Once you have done it, you will be at least satisfied to know more than what you did when you started the plan.
