The creative and tech sectors are two of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic for exporting. In the third of a series of case studies looking at businesses carrying the flag for the UK overseas, we look at Button-fix.
Who are Button-fix?
The Button-fix concept is simple: durable nylon buttons are attached to the back of one panel and the mating fixes are attached to the other. Bring the panels together and slide until the Button-fixes ‘click’.

Where are you now with your exporting plans?
We are the way to fix panels to walls. Next step: America! We’re looking at Canada and Germany as well, but America is the big priority.
How has the Action Plan helped Button-fix?
If you write anything down it helps, and it keeps the focus and reiterates that we’re doing the right thing.
The aim for us is to get more people to know about it so ramping up the PR, attracting new stockists, and updating the website. It’s about getting more people to use it, creating pull.
And how have you found the experience of the competition today?
It’s been fun and interesting, listening to other people’s plans and how they’re trying to launch into new markets and which ones.
