Trade Mission to Azerbaijan

The Middle East Association (MEA), in support with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will be leading a multi-sector trade mission to Baku, 10th-14th November 2013.

Azerbaijan is a secular Muslim state, situated in a strategic crossroad between the Middle East, Asia and Europe.  Its foreign relations are mainly concentrated on energy policies and securing energy export routes. Azerbaijan experienced high economic growth during 2006-10 due to its large oil and gas exports and growth in construction and finance sectors.  The growth rate over the 2013-17 period is expected to average 4.3%

Azerbaijan enjoys an extremely low unemployment rate (1%) as a result of a small, well-educated population. Trade with Turkey, Iran, UAE and the EU is on the increase as trade with Russia and former Soviet nations decreases. Like the majority of nations reliant on their hydrocarbon wealth, Azerbaijan seeks to diversify its economy and the manufacturing sector is seen as a long-term solution.

Opportunities for UK investors in Azerbaijan include the following sectors:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Banking & Finance
  • Transport & Construction
  • Education & ICT
  • Agriculture
  • Tourism
  • Architecture, Project Design & Real Estate

UK companies are highly regarded in Azerbaijan and MEA trade missions are unparalleled means of exploring business opportunities in-country, by means of introductions and meetings with relevant and potential partners.
