Spaniards spend more on organic products
According to a recent report elaborated by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), Spaniards spent 998 million euros on organic food and drink in 2012, an increase of 33 million compared to 2011.
“The characterization of the Spanish organic production sector: value, volume, market and e-commerce impact evaluation in 2012” was presented today marking the VI National Day on organic food, organized by the Spanish Federation of Organic Food Producers.
According to the sub-director of Differentiated Quality and Ecological Agriculture (MAGRAMA), Clemente Mata, the report results supports “the potential in the development of organic products in the domestic market, leads to suppose a marked improvement in its field”.
The yearly expenditure per capita in organic products also rose in 2012, placing itself at 20.9 euros per capita, 8,29 per cent more than in 2009.
