Regional companies discover Bulgarian delights

East of England businesses who joined our trade mission to Bulgaria (5 – 8 March) learnt of the significant opportunities available within one of Europe’s fastest growing economies.

The delegation of security and training providers participated in pre – arranged business – to – business meetings with over 70 companies from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Turkey during a matchmaking session organised by Enterprise Europe Network.

Mission members were also given an in – country briefing by the UK Trade & Investment team based at the British Embassy in Sofia. UKTI delivered an overview of the key opportunities in Bulgaria, the business climate in the Southern European country and led a discussion on EU structural funds.

Deloitte Bulgaria and a commercial partner from Stephen George International – a British architectural practice operating in Sofia, rounded off perspectives on doing business in Bulgaria and accessible incentives.

“Bulgaria represents multiple opportunities for UK firms, this mission was intended to introduce our delegates to the potential of this near – to – home market,” said EEN European Trade Advisor Mark Hofman.

“We were warmly received wherever we went, and I hope this visit has gone some way to promoting Bulgaria as an export destination for our businesses who I’m sure will be back again soon.”
