Opportunities for UK Companies in Delivery of China’s Eco-Cities and Green Building

The effective development and implementation of eco-cities and green building projects involves a complex set of skills and expertise which must be drawn from companies across the value chain, working in a range of sectors.

This Report highlights the vital stages for the effective development of eco-cities and
green buildings, and provides details of the companies who can help to deliver each and every stage of this process.

We have identified six key development stages necessary in eco-cities and green building
projects. These are laid out in the Roadmap and Value Chain diagrams, and then explained in more detail. The stages are: Standards, Research and Education; Policy Formulation and Urban Planning; Infrastructure Development; Property Development, Design and Construction; City and Building Management; and Evaluation, Retrofit, Conservation and Reuse. Each of these areas in turn comprises of a number of different
market specialisations.

The UK has strength in all these fields, with strong practical experience of working on projects in the UK, in China, and across the globe. The UK’s world class companies across the value chain, both large and small, can help China to develop eco-cities and
green building, bringing the knowhow, technology and business models necessary to achieve sustainable development.

We have identified 145 companies who can deliver the various parts of the Eco-Cities and Green Building Value Chain. You will find analysis of these companies in this report, looking into their size, scale, presence in China, capabilities and specialisations.
