North East firms are being offered an insight into a world of opportunities right on their doorstep later this year as UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) hosts Export Week.
Following the success of Export Week in May, which focused on High Growth Markets, UKTI will run another series of regional events during the week of 11-15 November aimed at getting businesses to either start exporting or to expand their export activity.
UKTI has teamed up with the devolved administrations and a host of partners and business organisations to organise a wide variety of events across the UK, with the highlight of the week the ExploreExport roadshow.
The roadshow will visit eight regions – including the North East – and bring more than 130 UKTI Trade Specialists from more than 70 markets to share their expertise in a series of one-to-one meetings with companies who sign up for the events.
Other events during the week will cover a range of topics from ‘how to prepare to enter the global market’ to ‘marketing to international clients’ and there will be a special event highlighting the North East’s top five export markets and the five markets with the greatest potential.
There will also be a general ‘Doing business overseas’ event as well as an ‘Inspiring Females conference’ and the North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
David Coppock, Regional Director for UK Trade & Investment in the North East, explained:
“The past year has been full of challenges for the region’s companies but the North East has enjoyed another excellent export performance for the year as a whole, with £13.691 billion worth of goods and services exported around the world.
“We were delighted with the support for our previous Export Week initiatives and we’re looking forward to welcoming as many of the region’s businesses as possible at our events this week so they can find out what opportunities are available in overseas markets.
“The ExploreExport roadshow will enable companies to find out about the huge potential offered in markets around the globe and, working with our partners, we’ve put together a wide range of events to offer something for everyone, whether a novice or experienced exporter.
“And, of course, UKTI’s experts will be on hand to guide them and advise on the wide range of support they can access to help them achieve their exporting ambitions.”
