Answer

Hi Amanda
We did a market research study of frozen food bakery products a few years ago across Latin America (in that case, the focus was on gluten free). Interest will vary across countries and even cities. I personally find that there is still the tradition of buying fresh bread daily or at least weekly. To buy frozen bakery products you’d really need to look at niche areas. Here in Uruguay, for example, I have seen local manufacturer Postres Olaso (http://www.postresolaso.com.uy/) really innovate in this segment. Check out also Jumbo supermarket in Chile, frozen bakery section online http://www.jumbo.cl/FO/CategoryDisplay?cab=4011

We do this kind of research for clients, so feel free to get in touch if you’d like to take it further. Kind regards, Gabriela

Answer

Hi there,
Thanks for the response. We would sell frozen products to be baked in the supermarket to be sold to consumers for retailers and sell to hotels, café’s to bake themselves. I’m wondering if super markets have bake off facilities in store?
Thanks
Amanda

Answer

Hi Amanda
The answer is yes, most (large and sometimes quite small) supermarkets have bake off facilities instore. A company here in Uruguay that has cracked that is Pagnifique (http://www.pagnifique.com.uy/).
Hope that helps and feel free to get in touch.
All the best
Gabriela
