US Merchant

Question

I am operating a UK based business selling to the US. I am currently getting crushed by merchant fees and Paypal currency conversion. I want to keep the USD because I purchase inventory with it.

Does anyone know how I can open a US bank account for business banking while having no fixed address in the US?

Answer

Hi Lee

Barclays banks operate in the USA. You can speak to a UK branch and they can put you through to their international team. They can help you set up a bank account overseas. You don’t need a fixed US address to have a bank account in the USA.

Answer

There’s also third-party services like World First who can open foreign bank accounts for you and also offer better currency conversion rates than PayPal and Amazon.

Answer

Lee, If you are just looking for a USD account your UK bank should be able to help you with that. If you need a bank account in the US because you are using the funds here, it is a little more complicated if you do not have any presence in the US. If you need any help with anything feel free to contact me
