Health Cert requirement for British biz selling FOB Chinese factory to Saudi Arabia

Question

Hi

We are a British exporter and are looking to export sugar confectionery from our Chinese facility FOB to our client in Saudi.

The Saudi importer has requested a Health Certificate.

Is this a requirement as there is no animal by product in the ingredients?

I have looked up the requirements if I was supplying from the UK and that according to DEFRA there is no requirement for sugar confectionery. I look forward to your advice.

Thanks

Answer

Hello Steven,
I will speak to my Saudi agents on this as we do foodstuffs on cross trades from China to Saudi Arabia and haven’t heard of them requiring a Health Certificate. It could be a new requirement if you email me the details I will look at it and revert.
