When and why did the business decide to export?
West Berkshire Brewery has been on a expansion drive in the last couple of years and our plans include the building of a new state of the art brewery capable of ultimately brewing up to 10 times more beer than we currently produce. In addition we will also install a flexible, high speed bottling and canning line. This is all due to be operational by April 2017. As part of the build up to that date we have decided to investigate export options open to us.
What is the company’s export vision?
We expect to be able to build our export volumes to a sensible 10% of sales within the first 2 years of trading abroad.
How did you find out about Open to Export?
I was introduced to OtE through my UKTI Trade Adviser
How useful did you find the Export Action Plan?
The exercise was a very useful one. Using a template like this ensured that we considered all angles and challenged our business to identify specific key markets.
How has/will the plan help accelerate your export goals?
The EAP will now act as the basis of a strategic plan for the development of our offer and encouraged the business to set targets for investigating potential markets. In completing the plans we have already been pushed into contacting potential distributors and in addition we have engaged with the local Chamber of Commerce to establish further opportunities.
