easyJet puts first ever scheduled Manchester – Moscow flights now on sale with prices from £47.49 one way

easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has today announced the first ever scheduled flights between Manchester and Moscow will go on sale today with fares starting from as little as £47.49 one way*. easyJet will operate four flights each way a week from 28 March.

Paul Simmons, UK Director for easyJet, commented:

“We are pleased to announce that the Manchester-Moscow flights are now on sale. We’ve proved over the years that when we enter a new market we open it up – bringing in competition and lower fares and enabling more people to travel on the route and we are sure that the new flights will be very popular with leisure and business passengers alike.

“We know that our passengers want to fly directly from their nearest airport rather than having to connect through London – particularly time sensitive business travellers. The new transport link has been welcomed by the business community in the North West – with Russia’s fast growing economy it offers so many opportunities for local companies.”

“We look forward to welcoming around 60,000 passengers onboard our new services in the first year of operations.”

The four hour flights will operate four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using an Airbus A319 with 156 seats onboard. Flights depart on Wednesdays and Sundays at 07:40 and arrive in Moscow at 14:35 with return flights departing Moscow at 15:15 and arriving into Manchester at 16:25. On Mondays and Thursdays flights depart Manchester at 13:40 arriving into Moscow at 20:35 and return flights depart Moscow at 21:15 arriving into Manchester at 22:25. Manchester will become the only airport in the UK outside of London offering Moscow services. To book tickets please log onto www.easyjet.com

Earlier this year easyJet also announced it had won the rights to operate flights between London Gatwick and Moscow. Flights between London Gatwick and Moscow will go on sale in mid-January 2013.

This autumn easyJet announced expansion plans from Manchester which will see it launching eight new routes from the airport, including Moscow. The new routes will create 160 direct jobs in the region.

easyJet currently serves 29 destinations from Manchester rising to 32 with the additional new aircraft next year. The new routes easyJet will launch next year from the base range from cities Moscow, Venice, Prague and Reykjavik to the sun destinations of Antalya, Mykonos, Santorini and Thessaloniki.
